Select the error code you are receiving from the list below.
Your AquaCal heat pump has indicated a refrigerant system low pressure condition. Please confirm the heat pump’s control panel is displaying the referenced error message. If so, before scheduling a service visit you should:
- Check for obstructed airflow around your heat pump (fence, bushes, overhangs, etc…)
- Check for a dirty or blocked air coil.
- Check for signs of heavy frost/ice buildup on the air coil.
Is the air circulation obstructed?
If “YES”, please take the time to clear any obstructions around the unit. A free area of two feet around the heater is recommended. Five to six feet of clearance overhead is recommended.
If ice or frost is coating the air coil, turn the heater off at the breaker and leave off until the frost/ice has melted completely.
After the breaker is reset, this may clear your LP message.
IF CHILLING OR OPERATING IN COOLING MODE
- Check – Clean and or replace Pool Filter.
- Check for debris in Circulation pump basket.
- Check for debris in Skimmer basket.
- Check valve positions. It is possible to have a bypass valve in the open position causing an LP error when cooling.
Your AquaCal heat pump has indicated a refrigerant system low pressure condition and has locked out the system. Please confirm the heat pump’s control panel is displaying the referenced error message.

- Check/Clean and or replace pool filter.
- Check for debris in circulation pump basket.
- Check for debris in skimmer basket.
- Check valve positions. It is possible to have a bypass valve in the open position causing an LP5 error when cooling.
After turning the breaker back on, check to confirm the error code has cleared and the unit has resumed normal operation. Do not reset more than two times.
If the unit continues to display LP or LP5 after a second reset, a service visit is needed. Please use this link https://www.aquacal.com/service-form/ to set up your service request.
- Check – clean or replace pool filter.
- Check for debris in circulation pump basket.
- Check for debris in skimmer basket.
- Check valve positions. It is possible to have a bypass valve in the open position causing an HP5 error.
- Increase variable pump speed if applicable.
IF CHILLING OR OPERATING IN COOLING MODE
- Check for obstructed airflow around your heat pump (fence, bushes, overhangs, etc.)
- Check for a dirty or blocked air coil.
After these steps, reset the breaker to clear this message. Do not reset more than two times.
If the unit continues to display HP OR HP5, a service visit is needed. Please use this link https://www.aquacal.com/service-form/ to set up your service request. Thank you!

Your AquaCal heat pump has indicated that the incoming water temperature has exceeded 108º F (43º C) and the unit has been deactivated. The heat pump will not operate until the incoming water temperature drops to 100º F (38º C) or lower.
If there is a heat source such as solar panels or a gas heater upstream from the unit, the water exiting this heat source may cause this alert. Try deactivating the heat source and then resetting the circuit breaker.
If the fault reoccurs, a service call is recommended. Please use this link https://www.aquacal.com/service-form/ to set up your service request.

Your AquaCal heat pump has indicated that there is a loss of communication between the Heat Pump and external controller.
Are you using an external controller?
If you are unsure, contact the installer of your heat pump for more information. Your heat pump may need to be reconfigured to set external controller to “NONE/OFF.”
If you are using an external controller, confirm the controller is correctly set to communicate with the heat pump. See manuals or guides provided with the external controller manufacturer.
Check the communication wiring between the Heat Pump and controller for breaks or damage.
If everything is set correctly, a service visit is needed. Please use this link https://www.aquacal.com/service-form/ to set up your service request.
Your AquaCal heat pump has indicated that there is a Multi-Unit Mode communication issue. Do you have multiple units onsite? If there is only one unit onsite, refer to the installation manaul for instructions on how to disable this feature.
If there are multiple units, confirm that all units have power and are programmed and operating correctly. Refer to this link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1F2-QE6Nl8) for more information.
